MSRP - $69.98

OfficeMax Price - $39.98

- 4.5% Jellyfish Discount

= $46.10 (shipped) - Click here to buy!

If you don’t already own a black leather manager’s chair, you are really missing out!  When I bought my computer chair for home, it wasn’t much different than this one, except for the cost.  I paid just over $100 a couple of years ago.

$46.10 is a good price for a leather desk chair and deserves a deal opinion.

Two Star Deal - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Sound Card

Monday, July 31st, 2006

MSRP - $129.99

Buy.com Price - $111.96

- 2.3% Jellyfish Discount

Lowest on Amazon.com is $111.97 (shipped)

Are your legally downloaded, yet DRM protected and incompatible MP3’s not sounding quite right through your computer?  The Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card utilizes the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio processor to enhance the original CD or DVD recordings…or at least that’s what Creative says.

$79.38 is a great price for a high end sound card and worthy of a two star rating.

Two Star Deal - Dyson DC14 All Floors Vacuum Cleaner (REFURBISHED) - $284.14 (shipped)

Friday, July 28th, 2006

MSRP - $515.99

Amazon.com Refurbished Price - $289.98

- $25.00 Coupon Code - CLEAROUT

= $284.14 (shipped with Super Saver Shipping) - Click here to buy!

Amazon.com is running a sale on Refurbished Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaners.

I usually don’t like to promote refurbished items.  However, if a deal is good enough, it’s hard to resist.  In this case, it’s even worthy of a two star deal rating.  A brand new DC14 costs $429 at Amazon..

Amazon.com Filler Items & A Nostalgia Electrics Popcorn Maker

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Amazon.com has a thing they call Super Saver Shipping. On qualifying orders of $25 or more, they offer free shipping that takes an additional 3-5 days to arrive. I say “qualifying orders” because they have a number of products that don’t qualify for the special shipping rate. The fine print can be found here.

I’ve ordered products in the past that qualified for Super Saver Shipping, but didn’t quite reach the $25 minimum order. That brings us to www.fillertime.com. This site was created by Kris Brower to find “filler” items to eclipse the $25 mark. You simply enter the dollar amount you need to fill, the categories you are interested in and hit “search”.

Coincidentally, I’ve also found a deal opinion on Amazon.com for the Nostalgia Electrics OFP501 Movietime Popcorn Maker. This is a fully-working tabletop plastic replica of an old fashioned popcorn stand.

The list price on this product is $49.99 and Amazon is currently selling it for $24.99. Click here to buy!

But wait! Don’t forget to add your filler item to get free shipping! After a quick search on www.fillertime.com I was able to find some Maxell heavy duty AAA batteries for just $0.59.

Books, Books, Books! - 10% lower than Amazon + 2.3% more!

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

You may have seen that commercial where a young handsome entrepeneur is standing on top of a large building talking about how much better his company is than Amazon.com. This man happens to be Scott Blum, the Founder and Chairman of Buy.com. He also happens to be the Chairman of Instant Media, Managing Partner of ThinkTank Holdiing LLC, Founder of MicroBanks and Founder of Pinnacle Micro. The last two of which he has since exited and become a very wealthy man.

Enough about Mr. Blum’s business endeavors. The coolest thing he is doing right now is giving great deals on books!

In the aforementioned commercial and on the website, Buy.com is advertising 10% off more than 900,000 Amazon.com books. Details can be found here. On top of that, Jellyfish.com members can enjoy an additional 2.3% of the Buy.com price.

Let’s take a look at the popular book The World is Flat: [Updated & Expanded] A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century by Thomas Friedman.

WorldIsFlat1.jpg
Amazon.com - $21.99 (shipped). Buy.com - $18.22 (Shipped and includes 2.3% Jellyfish discount)

If you haven’t been to Buy.com, where are you buying your books? And why are you paying so much?

We aren’t even into August yet and I’m already thinking about the winter. It’s depressing, but you need to take a good deal when you see one. This Winter Auto Pack includes a Hummer Plug-N-Heat Travel Tumbler, a Samsonite Lock De-Icer Keychain/Flashlight and a Perfect Solutions Electric Windshield Scraper. Graveyardmall.com says that it retails for $75. However, it was difficult to find these products elsewhere at all. The tumbler sells for $18.76 +shipping at Walmart. I’m pretty sure those other two items are worth something. Therefore, this is a two star deal.

Buy it while it’s hot (excuse the pun).

She is thin and she is pretty! If you can find a 42″ LCD HDTV under $2,000, it’s worth considering. The truth is, I passed on buying a Westinghouse through Best Buy once because I thought it was a rather unknown brand. However, some family members of mine bought the 32″ variety and love it. I’m very impressed with its picture for the price. The price is aggressive from Etronics, but still not quite low enough to pass a deal opinion rating.

* Shipping to my zip code in Wisconsin was $62.52.

“Honey, we are going wireless!”

For those of you that don’t know a lot about routers, Linksys is a very reputable manufacturer. With a wireless computer in hand, this little black and blue beauty is all you need to turn your existing cable or dsl setup into a harmonious 54mbps (opposed to 11mbps with a wireless-B router) wireless home/office networking ensemble. I had a linksys wireless-B router before being suckered into paying $50+ for a Netgear wireless-G a couple of months ago. The WRT54G is only deserving of a deal opinion because its low price comes with a mail-in rebate.

Enjoy working from your bed!

Deal Opinion - The Amazon.com Friday Sale and a Stainless Steel Grill for $294.99

Friday, July 21st, 2006

I typically validate the quality of a deal by comparing it with Amazon.com pricing. After all, they are the best known online superstore. Their prices are usually very competitive and sometimes they’ll even have good deals of their own. As an ongoing deal opinion, I’ve created a link to Amazon’s Friday Only Sale. This once a week sale has a variety of products sometimes numbering in the hundreds per sale.
I couldn’t leave you hanging without a quality deal from the Amazon sale. Therefore, without further ado, behold The Strathwood 4-burner Gas Grill with Painted Cabinet and Side Burner.

Regular Amazon Price - $760.00

‘Tis the grilling season! It’s Stainless Steel, 706 square inches of cooking space and 60,000 BTUs make this one attractive grill. However, because of the brand name, I just couldn’t bring myself to giving it more than a deal opinion. For what it’s worth, Amazon’s eight customer ratings give it a five out of five stars.
