Behold my first three star deal!

We launched Jellyfish Beta on June 26, 2006. It seems like just yesterday, so I vividly remember the first remarkable deal placed on the site. It was for the Fantom Titanium 160GB External USB2.0 7200RPM Hard Drive. It was a fantastic deal at $78.15 at Buy.com after the 2.3% Jellyfish discount. They sold like hot cakes and Buy.com has since raised their price to $98.99.

I was scouring a number of retailer’s sites today and stumbled across even a better deal at PCMall.com. They’ve taken the same hard drive and added a $20 rebate to it. This 160GB beauty is now effectively only $58.15 (plus shipping*).

$58.15 for 160GB. Did you know that 160GB is equal to 1,000,000 bytes? That’s roughly 40,000 legally downloaded, drm protected, incompatible 5mb MP3 files. I could nearly digitize my entire local library and store it in there. Well….maybe not (Google is already doing that anyway), but it’s probably more than you need.

*Shipping to my zip code in Wisconsin is $11.63

[…] The capicity keeps getting bigger and the price keeps getting smaller! You may recall that I recently posted a Fantom 120GB External Hard Drive for $58.15. To make a long story short, they sold like hot cakes and the price rebounded very quickly. In my opinion, Iomega is a much more reputable brand and definitely deserving of a two star deal. […]
