Deal Opinion - Coffee - Why Aren’t You Ordering It Online?

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Most mornings, the first thing I think of after my annoying alarm goes off is coffee. I tell myself that I'll be wide awake and alert after I get the first cup of java into my system.

Like many people, I've drank enough coffee to become a bit of a snob. I have developed expensive tastes that are rivaled only by my daily nightly wine drinking. Two of my all-time favorite coffee producers are Starbucks and Parkside Coffee.

I've been drinking Starbucks coffee for a lot of years, but didn't realize until recently that I've been over-spending. Let's take for example, a 1lb bag of Starbucks Sumatra Specialty Blend. The Starbucks Store online sells a bag for $16.48 and presumably, so does the local store. Meanwhile, the Staples price (with 2.3% Jellyfish cash back) is $10.27! My calculator tells me that there is a 62.3% difference! If you are a Starbucks drinker like me, it's time to start ordering it online!

Parkside coffee is a relatively new merchant added to Jellyfish. I've nearly polished off my first bag of 5th Avenue Blend and it truly is fantastic. I've also heard rave reviews from many friends, family and co-workers. At $13.07 a bag (after the 18.8% Jellyfish discount), it's comperably priced with Starbucks and is one you'll thank me for!

You may be asking why I'm promoting a $134.43 giant candy bar. Well, this is a actually a candy bar for your TV…and it doesn't melt.

To make a long story short, you set the device on top of your TV, plug it in, go through the quick setup wizard and enjoy your TV programming from any PC in the world. That's right, it streams your TV content so you can watch it on your office, your garden or your bathroom. You can change channels, view recorded content (think Tivo), fast forward and set up season passes. Best of all, there are no subscription fees!

Take a look at the mobilitysite.com post on the Slingbox. Chris doesn't know how he lived without one.

Or, check out the Gizmodo post on how the University of California was able to use a Slingbox to allow 3,000 fans to watch a game.

This little box packs a punch!

This shaver may not reach all of the places a Mangroomer back hair remover can, but it does handle the face very well. At 13,000 strokes per minute and a Linear Motor-Drive system up to 13,000 RPM, I'm thinking about using this thing for my lawn!

It also comes with a lithium-ion battery allowing cordless shaves for 2 weeks, an LCD panel to let you know when it needs recharging or cleaning and an adjustable pivot head to hug the contours of your face. This is a great shaver for $96.19!

In case your first response to this deal is, "what in the h*ll is a USB hub?", I'm here to explain. This alien spaceship looking device plugs into one of your USB ports and gives you seven more USB slots to plug in things like a fan, a laptop cooler, a hard drive, the included FlyLight, a wireless mouse, a wireless laser remote, and of course a USB Air Purifier, Clock. And just like that, we are out of ports.

This hub alone is worth $24.19, but Buy.com is also throwing in a FlyLight! This hub may not reach the level of dorkness coolness as the Rubik's Cube USB hub, but the price is unbeatable!

Owning a webcam used to mean that you frequent (or own) a kinky pornographic site.

In today’s connected world of broadband, wireless routers and VOIP phones, a webcam is just yet another highly used communication tool.

    quickcam.jpg

I bet I’ve read at least ten blog posts in the last few days relating to the movement towards social connection via today’s latest technology. Tricia’s somewhat ordinary life is going VOIP. Wesley Fryer is wondering why schools don’t use collaborative videoconferencing. Bloggers are even refusing to do posts when they don’t have access to highspeed internet.

Let’s face it, our world today is connected by up to 30Mbits a second (in most places).  It’s time for you to join the revolution and buy a webcam!

Let’s take a minute to discuss some of the must-have features in a new DVD player. Progressive Scan, Dolby Digital 5.1 channel output, HDMI or DVI connections, and a wide acceptance of formats (most importantly, Divx, for you dvd-burning tech geek types) are a few of the biggies.

The Toshiba SD-6980 gets a big “check” for all of these features. You can read the full specs, compliments of Toshiba themselves here. This is a very nice DVD Player at a very good value. Don’t forget that you can save up to 3.7% on all DVD’s at Jellyfish.

FYI…ground shipping was $11.94 for my zip code.
